Veitchi Frame recently completed a 5-storey affordable housing development in the heart of Galashiels overlooking Gala Water River. The £5.7m project sees 34 new homes consisting of a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
Delivered by Cruden Builders (formerly Hart Builders) on behalf of Eildon Housing Association, the Camerons Strachan Yuill Architects vision was to “integrate the development within the surrounding built urban form and landscape by utilising the existing topography of the site and making physical and visual connections with a range of surrounding features.” The development also provides residents with lift access, cycle storage and residents parking.
Parking space is maximised on site with the provision of an undercroft parking area. Veitchi Frame commenced from ground floor slab on a traditional podium design. The project included a number of key features: – undercroft parking, a Metframe panel pitched roof and the Gala Water River within close proximity.
Veitchi Frame completed the 5 storey structure with pitched roof within the 10 week programme.
