Structural Framing Systems (SFS)

Pioneers of SFS Framing in the UK

A Structural Framing System (SFS) is a fast-track, steel stud construction solution. It forms the essential carrier for external cladding, insulation and internal linings, creating a high-performance building envelope with speed and precision.

Types of SFS

Infill System

Infill SFS (Steel Framing System) walls installed between the structural frame elements of a building—typically between hot-rolled steel columns and beams. These systems create an external wall infill that sits inside the main structural frame and supports cladding, sheathing boards, membranes and insulation. SFS infill walls use cold-formed steel studs and tracks that are lightweight, accurate and quick to install, forming a non-loadbearing façade support system. This approach speeds up envelope closure, reduces structural loads compared with masonry, and is widely used across commercial, residential and public buildings

Types of SFS

Continuous System

Continuous SFS walls are externally positioned steel-framed walls that sit outside or in line with the building’s primary structural frame, creating a continuous façade line. Instead of building between steel columns (as with infill), continuous walling spans past the frame to maintain flush external elevations—useful where architects specify uninterrupted façades or where projecting elements (e.g., rainscreen systems) require a continuous substrate. Continuous SFS uses the same cold-rolled studs and tracks as infill systems but is engineered to cope with different load paths and façade support requirements.

Types of SFS

High Bay Wall System

High bay walling is a specialist SFS system designed for tall internal separating walls, often reaching heights of up to 20 metres inside factories, warehouses, logistics centres or atriums. These walls must accommodate large deflection movement from surrounding portal frames and are engineered with deeper, stronger studs to provide stiffness without the need for heavy hot-rolled steel wind posts. High bay walls offer lightweight construction, rapid installation and reliable structural performance, forming fire- and acoustically-rated internal partitions in very large-volume buildings

Veitchi Frame are pioneers of the Infill Framing System, delivering SFS solutions on major projects across the UK. Our experience spans hotels, student accommodation, residential developments, healthcare, custodial facilities, offices and retail schemes.

Designed for both new build and refurbishment, SFS offers the strength, flexibility and durability demanded on modern construction sites. It is the proven choice for projects where programme certainty, build quality and performance matter.

Why choose SFS?

  • Faster construction programmes – Off-site manufacture and rapid installation help accelerate the overall build.
  • Lightweight yet robust – Reduces loads on the primary structure and foundations, enabling more efficient structural design.
  • Early weather protection – The building envelope can be closed quickly, allowing follow-on trades to start sooner.
  • High thermal and acoustic performance – External foil-faced insulation can be enhanced with additional cavity insulation for superior results.
  • Built-in flexibility – On-site cutting allows tolerances in the primary frame to be easily accommodated

With you from the start

From our Glasgow Head Office, the Veitchi Frame SFS estimating and design team work closely with main contractors from the earliest stages. We take time to understand your programme, constraints and performance requirements, producing a fully coordinated design and a detailed, accurate quotation.

This early engagement ensures the right system is specified, risks are reduced, and the solution is right first time.
